After All – Rejection Overruled
After All aren’t exactly new kids on the block. Formed in 1988, these Belgian thrashers released their first 7 inch EP in 1992, followed by their first full album in 1995. By 2009, six more critically acclaimed albums and four more EPs had followed, supported through European tours with well-known acts such as King Diamond, Anthrax, Overkill, Destruction, Agent Steel, Stone Sour, Testament, Exodus, Sepultura, and many more – and playing highprofile festivals such as Graspop Metal Meeting (with Iron Maiden), Keep It True, Metal Dayz, Alcatraz Metal Fest, Dokkem Open Air and more.
Thrash Metal has been a genre that I have enjoyed attended gigs for the intensity of the shows, of the presentations. Of course, much like any other musical genre, it has to be well created, sincere and powerful. And I think this is the case with After All’s latest effort, “Rejection Overruled”. Actually, ‘Rejection Overruled’ is the official sneak preview for After All’s 9th full-length album, due for release later this year. I guess you can see how great this album must be, because the songs presented here and filled with energy, ferocity and excitement.
The music is fast-paced, catchy and imposing, with bone-crushing riffs, insane drumming and great vocals, which have different ranges, turning the compositions even more dynamic. It has an old-school feel, but still sounding modern, well, not like modern metal, just to make you sure that you will find here pure Thrash Metal madness. After All has released something more than worth of your attention, giving us a “hint” of a future release that might be bombastic.
The metal scene from Belgium is truly one of the richest, having different bands that are showing us something new. I have always been interested in their scene, well, in their beers as well, hehe, so, I’d like to ask you to take your time to find some more musicians from this nation, including After All, obviously.
Production wise, all is clean, very well made by the master Dan Swanö, who handled mixing and mastering duties. What I have left to say, or better, to ask, is for you, my dear friends, to give After All a try and please, support or promote or whatever is possible for you in order to help this band to reach their deserved audience.
