Au-Dessus – Au-Dessus
Au-Dessus is a young band founded in the year 2014 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Already in 2015 they delight us with the band’s first album, a selt-titled EP. Here’s what the band has to state about its music: The sound composition is being developed in order to destroy social attitudes, to cause the state of discomfort, to encourage cognitive dissonance and self-destruction. In the morale of painful cracks we are made to destroy and in this way to create; we are drawing our coat of arms on the screens of social clichés and looking beyond the self- imposed boundaries, drowned in cynicism because of god-fearing desire to come into contact with decency. This is our Renaissance and luminance – your judgment. Sue and be judged…
Being direct, this is indeed a very good album. I’m really enjoying it. At first when I read that the musical style was Post-Black Metal, I was a bit skeptical. If you read this website on a regular basis, you know I love the genre, but, obviously, when you hear many clones of the more well-known band, you get bored by the over-saturation. Fortunately, this is not the case with Au-Dessus.
The band has its own identity, you clearly sense the post-metal elements, but they stand on their own, it’s not like this is a carbon copy of the band “A” or “B”. Very hypnotic and strongly emotional, this is a ferocious and powerful release. It’s crude and still atmospheric, melodic and raw. Very well-written, this EP also shows that the band members are skilled in what they do, creating interesting and different Black Metal. Highly recommended.
When it comes to Au-Dessus’ production, it sounds clear, well-recorded and mixed. There is not one single aspect to “complain” about it. So, my dear friends, I end this article by stating one more time, this is a superb release, I urge you all to give it a chance and if you enjoy their music, please, support this band.
