Caelestis – Telesthesia
From the Egyptians with their god Horus to the mystical Japan with its goddess Amaterasu, cultures and people throughout Earth of any time have been knowing the importance of what the invisible hides and which only the heart’s eye, painted by us with the color of the sea and the sky, is able to see.
Dreamy melodies and shades of blue, looking for the most ancient connections between nature and the deepest inner id of the human being. This is Caelestis project: the Shoegaze duo who tells about what is to see beyond the visible.
I have known this project, or better, a real band since its first steps, at least I believe so and I must say that it is simply amazing to see it growing, evolving, changing, experimenting… Maybe this is not the usual type of music that I share my thoughts about most of the time, because Caelestis, as of now, is more of a Post-Rock, Shoegaze and Progressive rock band. We can find a few alternative, experimental metal elements here and there, though. The thing is that the quality of their music deserves to be always recognized.
I also should add that I loved what I heard and sometimes we need a more calming, soothing atmosphere to relax, to dream, and to distance from everyday problems… the music feels deep, sentimental and very ethereal, almost angelical, like Vera’s voice. And to add more uniqueness, the lyrics are in native Italian, making it sound even more romantic. There is not one single label that would be able to describe what Caelestis does. I simply think that I can safely say that we have here a beautiful, compelling album, exuberant in sentiments, creativity and variations.
As I have mentioned before, there are days that we are in need of dark, violent, obscure music. There are also times that we need something that represents light, a state of peace and beauty… it really depends on how our mood is and if it is the period in which you need refinement, allure and a positive vibration, this is what you need. Not that Caelestis plays happy, silly music, far from that, but there is charm, allure and enchantment that turns the music into a magical experience. And I sincerely believe that these are some of the words that could represent “Telesthesia”
As for the production, all is crystal clear, well balanced and recorded. I would like to ask you to, please, give them a chance; listen to Telesthesia legally on their Bandcamp page. If you happen to like their sound, their ideas, I urge you to support them, promote them, whatever is possible for you in order to help Caelestis.
Have a good day.
