Nostalgie Depression – Lamentos de la Tierra Lugubre

As some of you might have read, a few days ago this website has interviewed the Chilean band Nostalgie Depression. I think that there’s not much left to say about the band after such complete answers that Adramelejch was kind enough to give us. If you haven’t read it, we are talking about a young band from Chile, influenced by Burzum, Darkthrone and Uaral, so, we can conclude that there’s lots of Black Metal, Ambient and Folk on Nostalgie Depression’s music. I’m reviewing today the EP “Lamentos de la Tierra Lugubre”, which, fortunately, is quite long for an EP, clocking over forty-four minutes.

“Lamentos de la Tierra Lugubre” could be devided into to parts, the first four sons, all title in Spanish, are folk, but not the happy kind, with acoustic guitars and sounds of birds and water, all in a very introspective, but also very emotional, melancholic. The music is indeed very beautiful and atmospheric and you can clearly hear the Uaral influences. I really felt like I was walking around in Chile while listening to this part of the EP. If you haven’t been there, I urge you to do so; it’s an experience you’ll never forget. In my humble opinion, it’s indeed a magical land.

The second part of “Lamentos de la Tierra Lugubre”, the remaining three songs are raw and yet atmospheric Black Metal, kind of reminding me of Burzum earliest releases, but also with an old Darkthrone feel. Again we can relate the music’s mood to a feeling of despair and hopelessness.

To sum up, “Lamentos de la Tierra Lugubre” is a crude, emotional and honest release, stunning at many parts, interesting as a whole and more than worth to check out. I’d say it’s a must for those that are fans of Ambient Black Metal and real Folk music. I kindly ask you all that liked Nostalgie Depression’s compositions to help the band, be by promoting it, sharing the links on Facebook, ordering a release, whatever it’s possible for you.

Take care.
