Swine Overlord is an American Brutal Death Metal band that was introduced to me by Melissa from FullBlast!PR. I decided to give it a try and now I’m reviewing their latest album named “Parables of Umbral Transcendence”, released now in 2014. Before I let you know my thoughts on this album, let’s get to know a bit more about Swine Overlord:

“Formed in December of 2011 under the name Malignant Abomination, the project was meant to be a novelty band between guitarist, Will and a close friend. It quickly became more serious changing the name to Hypoxic, and becoming Will’s solo project. Two tracks were recorded before changing the name one last time to SWINE OVERLORD and recruiting Devin as vocalist and drummer. SO quickly began writing a unique and punishing blend of slamming brutal death metal, combining Devin’s guttural vocals with skull-smashingly heavy instrumentation.”

This is just a short biography on the band. Anyways, “Parables of Umbral Transcendence”, well, I hadn’t been listening to Brutal Death Metal for a long time, maybe one release here and there, but I especially liked it at the times when the Polish band Yattering was active and, interesting enough, this release made me want to re-visit my dusty Brutal Death Metal album as well as to get to know new material.

“Parables of Umbral Transcendence” is, in my modest view, a great sounding album, very brutal, fast, aggressive and blasphemous. The musicianship is very solid and the production is top-notch, much, much better than I expected. With insane blast-beats, fast and slow guitar playing, awesome riffs, crazy vocals and a chaotic atmosphere, “Parables of Umbral Transcendence” is a must for the fans of the genre. I know it made me go back and pick up my old Brutal D.M. albums.

As I always finish my thoughts, and I say thoughts because I prefer to share my feelings other than the technical aspects of the release, which would be a review per se, I ask you all that enjoyed this music to promote the band, to help the band the way that you are able to. And while on that, please, like our page on Facebook as well. Sorry for my own publicity.

Take a lot of care of yourselves.
