The Polish Black Metal horde Taran was founded in the year 2002 in Zielona Góra. I personally enjoy Poland’s Black Metal scene very much and I was indeed looking forward to listening to what this band had to offer. Well, a little more information about them, after a demo and two splits, one with the legendary Besatt, the band has finally released its self-titled début album.
So, I heard the album over and over again, in fact, I’m listening to it right now as well. It’s a blitzkrieg attack, vicious, violent, dirty, dark and malevolent. This is a release for those that enjoy classical, traditional Black Metal, without experimentations, post-influences or anything like that, but rather a total devastating assault to your ears that will indeed please any admirer of extreme metal music.
Featuring incredible compositions, ultra fast guitars, tortured harsh vocals, insane drumming, the compositions sound fierce and imposing, while the album’s atmosphere remains cold and malignant. It’s truly a sonic aggression, but Taran isn’t simply playing fast and loud with no technique at all, if you listen carefully, you’ll conclude that it’s exact the opposite. These guys are talented and created an outstanding work. There are so many interesting aspects that I could cover, but I find long reviews boring, I prefer just to describe a bit the album and let you know how I feel about it, but, one thing I must add, the guitars, for example, sound so majestic. Incredible!
About the album’s production, how it sounds, I believe that it’s simply great. Clean, but not to the point that it might sound mechanical or even sterile. All musical details are enjoyed easily. And now I invite you all to check this band, their début album and, by liking their music, please, support them, help promote them around the internet, with your friends, whatever you think it will benefit Taran.
