Power of Ground – The Butcher
After some months, there’s another Salute Records label band to be reviewed, Power of Ground. Hailing from Bangladesh, Power of Ground was formed in the year 2009 and plays Brutal Technical Death Metal. The band has released a single and the EP I’m sharing the thoughts today. One of these days I was reading about Chittagong, the city that Power of Ground is from and I felt an urge to visit it someday. I love travelling and I hope that the day I die I should have been all around the world or, at least, covered most of it.
But now let’s talk about what you came here for, Power of Ground’s “The Butcher” EP. We have a great material here, but since it’s an EP, it’s of a short length and I finished listening to this amazing work wanting more and more. I hope that, in a near future, this band will be able to release a full-length album, as they have already showed great potential in a genre that is immensely hard to create something that doesn’t sound stagnated. Power of Ground’s Technical Brutal Death Metal, fortunately, doesn’t like “every other” band of the genre.
What can I say about the music? Well-composed and executed, the sound is brutal, aggressive and fast; the guttural vocals are impressive, always constant, but also we can listen to those notorious raspy screams, almost like “squeals”, I absolutely love those. Everything is so excellent in “The Butcher”, the guitar work, crazy drumming, violent vocals, heavy bass, I really see no flaws. All is blistering fast, diverse and versatile; these guys did manage to create something very interesting and features an unrelenting cruelty. It’s freaking exceptional.
The EP’s production is also to be admired, all crisp, clear, you’re able to enjoy all instruments and vocals. I’m very impressed. And I just want to ask you one last thing, please, check this band, they’re, in my modest view and up to my tastes of course, profoundly pleasing and refreshing. If you like their music, please, do what is possible for you in order to keep this band alive.
Take care.
